Took the top end off my PE , noticed that the reed block fingers looked flattened . I looked at the manual but couldn't find a setting ,can anyone help ?
I had a bit of an issue with flooding ,so I've ordered a new float valve assembly . I'm used to setting float level via a clear pipe valved off the bottom of the float bowl ,obviously I cant use that method for the PE so can anyone post a diagram of the distance from the carb body to the float ?
The manual just has a dimension 29 mm but fails to say where the measurement is taken .
Again manual has dimensions for piston ring free end gaps that mean fek all to me , I normally stick the rings in the bore at the bottom ,level them up with the piston down the bore and measure the ring end gap , I'm getting .025 in , is that too much for the pe ? My piston is marked 05 so I guess first o/s ,there was carbon on the bore opposite the recesses for the gudgeon pin so I'm thinking the rings are done ? I think the piston is just in wear limits at 62.37 mm at 8 deg C , quite a chilly day so the piston aint going to be up to size . The bore has a couple of corrosion pit marks below the area swept by the rings , but looks good with a slight wear lip so I think I'll leave it be and just replace rings and circlips . Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I have , been a long time since I worked on little two strokes so I could be way off with clearances .

Download the Clymer manual for PE's from Lukes site. Page 52 2 petal reed stops - 7.8mm (0.28-0.31in.) 3 petal reed stops - 9-10mm (0.35-0.40in.) Float Height is also listed under carb settings, it would be best if you just download the Clymer's. I hope this helps!
