Looking for OEM fuel tank or perhaps an alternative solution. Friend's very nicely done bike tank was sealed, but cracked again in different location.....
Thanks!

Aluminum! I think I stumbled upon one of these on eBay recently and was surprised at the find! I bet these things will be really good lookers. The OEM 1977 PE250B tank is by far the best looking tank of all PE's in my opinion. I may have to look into one of these alloy tanks for my upcoming PE175 purchase as well. Any idea how thick or tough they are? Concerning off-road spills and denting the tanks, that is. Are there any reproduction plastic tanks out there that will fit these bikes well without much hassle?

Mostly you have Clarke manufacturing which makes tanks for Suzukis that will fit. There are Universal options too. You can check the sizes which are posted on their site along with some pictures they have posted. But that alloy tank looks sweet! As far as their toughness, most metal tanks will dent but are so much better than plastic for longevity and i think can be repaired more easily.

The alloy ones from India are really good from what i have heard from the owner who sent his plastic tank to the company to copy it. I have plans to buy one of these tanks at some point myself as soon as i got s bit of spare $.

That's GREAT to know, and likewise, I hope to buy one for my soon-to-be 80-84 PE175 purchase. And perhaps my PE250B as well if it turns out that it can fit the '77 as well. The tank says 78-84 Suzuki PE in the listing. The 77 was the only OEM aluminum tank year. I'm not sure if the frames are really that much different 77 vs 78+, perhaps they are, or perhaps it was just a typo/misinformation.
I'm guessing these will be like the Rickman CR road racer aluminum tanks from India, where they are aluminum but are not really all that light, because they are made out of very thick aluminum stock... That would be a huge bonus really, I don't mind weight gain in that area if it means no brittle old plastic and no thin easily-dented aluminum PE250M or 76-77 RM tanks!
