32:1 because my other motorcycles prefer it AND I use a very good sem-synthetic Golden Spectro which I used in my racing days at 40:1.

I was going to use 32:1 Yamalube 2R for my bike once I get it up and running again.

I was going to use 32:1 Yamalube 2R for my bike once I get it up and running again. That's fine, I have used Yamalube too. I did get some on eBay for a good price but later noticed it must have been old stock and was separating with clumps (going bad) so be careful of those deals ;-) Otherwise the Yamalube is good stuff.

I have been a big fan of Klotz Super Techniplate (20% Klotz BÄ“NOL castor oil / 80% synthetic). I must admit that a big part of that lies in the fact that I LOVE that castor oil smell! I have had no issues with it however. 32:1 in my "modern" '99 KDX220, 20:1 in my vintage bikes. I have considered creeping up towards 32:1 on the vintage bikes as well, however. When the old PE Yahoo Group site met it's demise, I had read a period article of a vintage magazine testing out different pre-mix oil ratios. If I recall, they did do some slight jetting adjustments (?), but I may be mistaken on that. I don't recall the exact outcome, but they determined that the most power was made at or slightly thinner above stock 20:1, with scoring and engine seizures at drastically thinner ratios. I'd really like to see an experiment like this using modern oils, however, as I'm sure it would yield more favorable results for 32:1 on vintage bikes.
So I have been told by Brent N. that I REALLY need to try switching over to Bel Ray Si7 pre-mix oil, as there was great discussion (by Alex or someone from the old PE group who made a big document on oils, saved in Luke's OneDrive in the tech/links section of this forum), that this Bel Ray Si7 was by far the best oil for our vintage bikes, and they even make a noticeable amount of greater crisper mid-range power running the Si7.
Comments? Leith? I believe Brent N. mentioned you when recommending it as well
