So I have an issue with my clutch. The ingagement point is just about at the end of the release of the lever. I can't start the bike in gear either. I tried to move the arm on the shaft coming out of the the case which removed all the adjustment in the cable and lever adjustment. If I start adjusting the lever adjuster, the bike doesn't move when it is in gear. Back out the adjuster and the bike will move. Any thoughts, recommendations? Did I do something wrong with my instalation? Also, all clutch plates are almost new (low hours) and the fingers on the clutch hub have been filed.

Jimmy did you check the Clymer Manual for correct order of assembly? There is also a manual for your specific year also.
There is a mark on the pressure plate that is supposed to align with the ridge inside the sleeve hub... I don't know if that would make a difference. I haven't been inside my175 lately so can only go by the manual. Bad clutch cables can cause difficulties but your problem sounds more extreme, could you have bent a plate during assembly?

The cable is new. I put it together as it came apart after replacing the kick starter idle gear. No I have not looked at the manual..... my bad. Looks like I missed step #12 of aligning the marks up. Haven't done work with the PE motors. I am wired for the KTM motors on my Pentons.... Thanks for the response!
