I have had a lot of success using WD-40 with 400 grit. I get it pretty yellow (Close to new) then I use the lens cleanser for headlights to finish and it looks great.
Here is my question on the thread. I have a 1986 RM80 my son and I are restoring does anyone know the blue color? We are attempting to get it as close to original as we can.

This may not be helpful, but I take any part I need painted to my local Auto body/paint shop and they can scan the surface and mix the color up in different paints and they will even make a spray can if you don't have your own airbrush or spray. Of course, you need to find a good area to match, sometimes found after removing a sticker where it was not faded or subjected to light since the color changes with age. Perhaps one of the British members has a paint code since their bikes were produced with metal gas tanks... I'm not sure there is ever an original paint code for a plastic part, they must have a different method for producing the color, or colour ;-) Colorrite produces Champion Yellow but I'm not sure it's right because of this (different Champion Yellows?). Also you will likely have different quality issues depending on who produces the paints with different production cycles.

Hey Chuck, Thanks for your reply. I had same experience in the past, mostly when you took parts from the inside the color was still fair enough. Just thought someone here has the code available (found other great info here recently)...
